Dr. John Zavaro
Practice Owner – Small Animal
Dr. John Zavaro received his B.S. from the University of Kentucky in 1998 and his DVM from Auburn University in 2003. He started Healthy Petz in January of 2008. Dr. Zavaro is a member of the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Zavaro enjoys raising cattle and riding horses on his farm with his wife, daughter, and son. His extended family includes his 2 cats named Catfish and Mackerel and two golden retrievers named Gauge and Fame. As you can see, the love for animals is deeply woven into his professional, family life and recreation.
Dr. Glenis Moore
Small Animal
Dr. Glenis Moore received her B.S. in Animal Science in 2009 and her DVM and Masters in Public Health in 2013 – all from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She practiced in Nashville for 6 years before joining Healthy Petz.
Dr. Moore enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, horseback riding, reading, baking, and working out (because of the baking). Dr. Moore lives in Thompson’s Station with her husband, son, mixed-breed dog (Elle), and two crazy cats (Charlie and Hemi).
Dr. Kelsey Houglum
Small Animal
Dr. Kelsey Houglum received her B.S. from Pacific Lutheran University in 2014 and her DVM from Washington State University in 2018. After graduating, she decided to take the plunge and move from Spokane, WA to Tennessee! Prior to joining the Healthy Petz team in 2019, she worked at a small animal practice in Nashville.
In her free time, Dr. Houglum enjoys seeing family, going to the lake, and just exploring new places!
Dr. Carl Gilliam
Small Animal
A graduate of University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, Carl was raised in Franklin, TN.
Prevention medicine, client education and patient interaction are some of his interests in the veterinary field.
He is a passionate sports fan and always thought of himself as a dog person but somehow has ended up with two mischievous and loving rescue cats named Mr. Meowgi and Mr. Bill.
Dr. Karen Dumont
Small Animal
Dr. Karen Dumont is happy to be joining the Healthy Petz team after relocating to TN with her family in 2017 and practicing in Smyrna the past 3 years. Originally from Rochester, NY she received her B.S. in Biology at the University of Notre Dame and received her DVM degree in 2002 from Cornell University. She worked for many years in Ithaca, NY in both general practice and shelter medicine. She likes variety and enjoys both internal medicine cases as well as surgery. She has a particular interest in dentistry and improving pets’ quality of life through oral health. She strives to practice quality medicine and provide kind and compassionate care for every one of her clients and patients. Dr. Dumont works part-time at Healthy Petz and spends the rest of her time raising 3 sons with her husband Chad. The Dumonts have a full house in Franklin with a Great Pyrennes mix named Daisy, 3 cats (including a stray found at Pinkerton Park), and many fish. In her spare time Dr. Dumont enjoys singing and performing opera and musical theatre and is a founder of Franklin Light Opera company.
Anastasia
Practice Manager
Anastasia, Dr. John Zavaro’s sister, has been the practice manager since Healthy Petz opened in January 2008. She grew up in the KY and TN area and also lived in Los Angeles for 14 years pursing her love of acting. Besides interests in horseback riding and music, Anastasia is often seen on stage in local theatre productions or behind the scenes directing or producing community theatre. She lives on 15 acres with her husband and their three cats.
Tatiana

Customer Service Representative
Tatiana has been working in the Veterinary field since 2004. Originally from Los Angeles, Tatiana grew up having a passion for animals. In 2010, she moved to Nashville with her family. If she’s not at work, you can find her at Kroger, Target, or driving down HWY 31 taking one of her kids to ballet, piano, or wresting practice.
Ashton
Customer Service Representative / Veterinary Technician
Ashton has been working at Healthy Petz since 2016. She graduated from MTSU in 2014 with a Bachelors’ degree in Business Management. She currently lives in Chapel Hill with her fiance, twin girls, one boy and their fur babies; Jack and Penny. She is hoping to add a kitten to her animal family soon! Her favorite hobbies include fishing, canoeing, going to the lake, riding their razor, and spending time with all her pups. Go Vols!!!!
Stefani
Customer Service Representative
Stefani has been working at Healthy Petz since April of 2018, although she has been working in the veterinary field since 2017. She was born and raised in Franklin, TN and still reside there with her husband, 2 dogs Max and Gracie, 4 goats Oakley, Jax, Chance and Phoebe, and 2 horses Dixie and Spirit. When Stefani is not working, she enjoys spending time with all of her animals.
Kayleigh
Customer Service Representative
Kayleigh was born in Franklin but has lived in Columbia most of her life. She has been in the veterinary field since April 2022 and can’t imagine doing anything else. She enjoys going on hikes with her Doberman, taking naps with her pug, and hanging out with friends.

Erin joined the Healthy Petz family in July 2014, but she has been in the veterinary field since 2011. She graduated from Columbia State Community College in 2011 with an Associate of Applied Sciences in Veterinary Technology. Erin has two fur babies at home, 1 dog and a cat. She looks forward to seeing you and your babies!
Nikki

Nikki joined the Healthy Petz family in 2014. She graduated with a degree in Veterinary Technology from Columbia State in 2013. Nikki originally started in emergency medicine but moved to small animal medicine in 2014. She currently lives in Chapel Hill with her husband Ben and their three beautiful daughters: Averee, Addilyn, and Aubrey. Together, they have 1 dog named Felix, 4 cats, and a snake named Blaine. She enjoys working here at Healthy Petz and says it is truly a dream job to love and care for all animals.
Mackenzie, LVMT

Mackenzie has been with Healthy Petz since the spring of 2013. She is a Licensed Veterinary Technician who obtained her degree in Veterinary Technology from Columbia State Community College in 2010. Mackenzie currently lives with her best friend and husband, Matt, their son and daughter, and dog. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and loving on her pups.
Abby
Veterinary Technician
Abby has been working in the veterinary field since 2018 and has been at Healthy Petz since June 2020. Abby is currently in enrolled at Penn Foster College to get her Veterinary technology degree. When she is not working with your babies she is hiking with her two babies, Layla and Grizzly Bear. In her freest of free time, she runs her own photography business!
Brooke
Veterinary Technician
Brooke has been with Healthy Petz since January of 2012. She has a wonderful dog named Krueger and a crazy cat named Minnie Mouse. She currently lives in Fairview with her husband, Josh. It is a long drive, but she feels it is 100% worth it! Brooke absolutely loves working with your babies every day. In her spare time, Brooke is on the board of the Fairview Community Theater.
Christina
Veterinary Technician
Christina graduated from Columbia State Community College in 2018. She has been at Healthy Petz since November 2022. Christina is a cat lover at heart and currently has a cat, dog, chinchilla, snake and many quail. Her hobbies are reading, walking/running, family time with her son and husband and taking care of her animals.
